The author explored this fate in countless conversations with the person concerned and the relevant authorities. She thereby illustrates the identity dilemma that many adoptees and society as a whole must deal with. The author skillfully uses language to create an engaging tension over the course of three episodes, juxtaposing closeness and distance, the intimacy of the individual case and its significance for society as a whole.
