In July, a demonstration was held in Geneva's Place des Nations, banned by the authorities. About a hundred Cameroonian opposition members came to oppose Paul Biya's presence. The demonstration overflowed. Some opponents attempted to force their way into the Intercontinental Hotel, where the autocrat resides. The police responded with tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets.
