This year’s Swiss media awards are shared between one German-speaking Swiss, two French-speaking Swiss, and two teams from German-speaking Switzerland. Denis Balibouse is the Swiss Press Photographer of the year and Mattias Greuter is the Swiss Press Journalist of the Year.
The Swiss Press Awards 2022 were held by the Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation on Wednesday 27 April, at the University of Bern. The Rhaeto-Romance musician Pascal Gamboni premiered the Swiss Press Song 22 “in eroplan”,which he had composed especially for the occasion.
The award ceremony was streamed live from the University of Bern at http://www.swisspressaward.ch and on youtube, where it can still be viewed.
The winners are: Mattias Greuter (Swiss Press Text), Joana Kelén, Fabian Baumgartner, Franco Gervasi and Linda Koponen (Swiss Press Online), This Wachter, Patrick Imhasly, Theres Lüthi and Simon Meyer (Swiss Press Audio),François Ruchti (Swiss Press Video), Simon Gabioud (Swiss Press Local) and Denis Balibouse (Swiss Press Photo).

For their outstanding work each of the six award winners was presented with a Diamond trophy and the sum of CHF 15,000. The 2nd and 3rd prizes in all categories received 3,000 and 1,000 respectively. The category winners of the Swiss Press Photo each received CHF 3,000. The Journalist of the Year and the Photographer of the Year left the stage with 25,000 each.
The Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation was established as an independent organisation with the aim of promoting Swiss journalism.
The Swiss Press Yearbook in four languages, showcasing the work of the award-winning journalists along with Switzerland’s best press photos is being published by Steidl Verlag for the second time.
The exhibition “Swiss Press Photo 22” launches its national tour on 6 May 2022 in the Swiss National Museum in Zurich (6 May – 26 June), before moving on to the Bern Historical Museum (28 September – 30 October), then to the Château de Prangins (4 November 2022 – 26 February 2023) and to the Museo Castello Grande in Bellinzona (3 March – 26 April 2023).

The Covid crisis, intensive care beds, sexual harassment, a pollution scandal, and the life of a politician are the topics of this year’s winning contributions to the Swiss Press Award, the national media prize.
Célia Héron, Boris Busslinger and Sylvia Revello are the Swiss Press Journalists of the Year.
Sarah Carp is the Swiss Press Photographer of the Year.
On Wednesday, 28th April, the Swiss Press Awards 2021 were announced by the Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation. The presentation of the diamond-shaped awards was live-streamed by the Studio House of Parliament. The seventh Swiss Press Song, “Neri o bianchi che siano”, commissioned in honour of Swiss journalists, was written and performed by the Ticino band The Vad Vuc and premiered on the web as a music video.
Each of the winners received a Diamond trophy for their exceptional work. The two main winners were also each awarded CHF 25,000, and the winners of the categories Online, Audio, Video, and Local each received CHF 15,000.
The prize money for 2nd place in Text, Online, Audio, Video, and Local was CHF 3,000 each, the 3rd prizes CHF 1,000, and the winners of the Swiss Press Photo categories each received CHF 3,000. In total, prize money amounting to CHF 145’000 was given out.

The 7th edition of Swiss Press Award catalogue, containing the works of the winning journalists and the 21st edition of the Swiss Press Photo yearbook, will for the first time be published as one hardcover book, the SWISS PRESS YEARBOOK 21, by the distinguished Steidl Verlag. The national touring exhibition SWISS PRESS PHOTO 21 opens at the Kornhausforum in Berne on 8th September 2021 and will run until 10th October 2021. The exhibition will then move to the Château de Prangins from 12th November until 6th March 2022.

On 29 April, the winners of the categories Text, Online, Audio, Video, and Local will be announced, and each winner will receive CHF 15,000. The 2nd prize is CHF 3,000 and the 3rd CHF 1,000. Additionally, the “Swiss Press Journalist of the Year” and the “Swiss Press Photographer of the Year” will be announced, each in turn receiving CHF 25,000.
On the same day, the Swiss Press Song 21 “Neri o bianchi che siano”, composed and performed by a band from Chiasso, The Vad Vuc, will be performed for the first time. The Vad Vuc are the seventh band to create a Swiss Press Song in honour of all Swiss Journalists, following in the footsteps of Polo Hofer, La Gale, Sebalter, Bibi Vaplan, Big Zis and Pat Burgener.
