And suddenly the universe shrinks to the size of an apartment, with the possible addition of a garden and a little bit of the neighborhood. But that’s about the extent of how far a photographer in lockdown can roam, especially if she also has to take care of two small children by herself. Together they discover what magic lies within the boundaries of this universe; and that there is more to this state of emergency than finding new ways to carry on as usual. When photography becomes a daily ritual, it creates a new, second reality. This also makes these childhood days more interesting from an educational point of view: “When mum is taking photos, the two of them get to do a lot of things that would otherwise not be allowed.” Yverdon-les-Bains, spring 2020.
