The aim of the Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation is to award prizes to promote and support media work in both print and electronic media (the Swiss Press Awards). The main prizes of the Swiss Press Awards, currently in the categories Text, Online, Audio, Video and Photo, are endowed with CHF 15,000 each. In addition, a 2nd and a 3rd prize are awarded in each category, endowed with CHF 3,000 and CHF 1,000 respectively (exception: no prizes are awarded for the 2nd and 3rd prizes in the photo category). In the photo category, the best works in the areas of News, Daily Life , Swiss Stories, People, Sports and World will also be awarded CHF 3,000 each (the winners of the main prize, the Swiss Press Journalist and the Swiss Press Photographer of the Year, who receive CHF 25,000, are not entitled to any further prize). The prizes are awarded once a year.
The Swiss Press Award is aimed at all media professionals who have published their work in German, French, Italian or Romansh in a Swiss daily or weekly newspaper or in electronic media. Unpublished photo series can only be submitted in the Photo category ‘Swiss Stories’. Participants must have Swiss citizenship or have been resident in Switzerland for at least three years or being cross-border commuters.
