On May 6, 2012, 26 young men swore their oath of allegiance to the Swiss Guard's flag in the Vatican – a lifelong oath. Among the young men were 22-year-old Peter Meier from Altishofen and 20-year-old Luca Brunner from Steinhausen. The day before, the soldiers laid a wreath in memory of their comrades killed almost 500 years ago.
