The Artist Next Door is a portrait of Enza Riva, a 92-year-old woman who lives on the border between Ticino and Italy and is exhibiting her paintings for the first time. An eccentric woman, she receives the journalist at her home, offering him coffee and preparing him risotto. The documentary is deliberately shot live, with minimal editing to preserve its spontaneity and realism.

Roberto Antonini has been a journalist at Swiss Radio since 1984. A Swiss citizen born in 1957, he received his degree in History from the Sorbonne, University of Paris 1 and in Anthropology from René Descartes, University of Paris V. He is married to Sylvie Camus and has two children. He speaks Italian, French, German and English. From 1991 to 1995 he headed the International Department. As a special envoy. He witnessed the end of Apartheid in South Africa. From 1995 to 2002, he was a correspondent in Washington DC, and in 2002 he was appointed Editor in Chief at Swiss Radio. Since 2008 he has been responsible for the production of in-depth programming (reportages/major interviews). His official position is Features Editor. He has been awarded several prizes, including Prix Suisse, Schweizer Journalist Prize, Grand Prix of French-language public radio stations, Premio Associazione Ticinese dei Giornalisti ATG, and Swiss Media Award.
