Daniel Auf der Mauer studierte Fotografie an der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich und erhielt seinen Abschluss mit Auszeichnung. Daniel fotografiert Reportagen und Portraits für internationale Publikationen wie The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, NZZ Folio und viele mehr. Sein Fotobuch MZAYNA, eine Langzeitreportage über den modernen sozialen Wandel der Beduinen in der Wüste Sinai, wurde 2012 in Kollaboration mit Anina Gmür im Benteli Verlag publiziert und 2013 für die Shortlist des German Photo Book Award nominiert. 2015 veröffentlichte Daniel seinen ersten Multimedia–Dokumentarfilm “Niemandes Frauen – Sexuelle Gewalt in Indien: Eine Kultur des Schweigens”, welcher mehrere Auszeichnungen erhielt, darunter den Förderpreis „real21“ des DEZA. Daniel ist bekannt für seine Fähigkeit, tiefe emotionale Themen mit Sensibilität und Empathie anzugehen und in einer vielschichtigen und berührbaren visuellen Atmosphäre zu erzählen.
