Prospectors search for rock crystals in the Furka region in July 2017. They venture into places where no one has ever been before. They approach the retreating glacier, where spectacular finds are located. The work was created under precarious conditions on the Tiefenbach Glacier. They spend the night in a cramped bivouac under a rocky outcrop at 3,000 meters above sea level.

Geboren 1973 in Sion (VS). Nach der Schulzeit im Wallis absolvierte Gaëtan Bally ein Austauschjahr in San Diego in den USA, um Englisch zu lernen. Anschliessend Fotografen-Lehre in Sion mit Berufsschule in Vevey (VD). Bereits während der Lehre regelmässige Aufträge für die Zeitungen «Le Nouvelliste», «Le Nouveau Quotidien» und die Bildagentur Reuters. 1994 bis 1997 Fotograf bei der Agentur ASL in Lausanne. 1997 bis 2002 Fotograf bei der «Neuen Zürcher Zeitung» in Zürich. Seit 2002 Themenfotograf bei der Bildagentur Keystone in Zürich, mit einem Teilpensum von 90%. Daneben freie Auftragsarbeit für verschiedene Magazine und Unternehmen.
