The Swiss Heritage Society has awarded the municipality of Sion in the canton of Valais the 2013 Wakker Prize. The Society awards this prize to municipalities that demonstrate exceptional achievements in townscape and settlement development. Photographed in January 2013 and November 2012

Fotograf, Zuerich, 1973

Geboren 1973 in Sion (VS). Nach der Schulzeit im Wallis absolvierte Gaëtan Bally ein Austauschjahr in San Diego in den USA, um Englisch zu lernen. Anschliessend Fotografen-Lehre in Sion mit Berufsschule in Vevey (VD). Bereits während der Lehre regelmässige Aufträge für die Zeitungen «Le Nouvelliste», «Le Nouveau Quotidien» und die Bildagentur Reuters. 1994 bis 1997 Fotograf bei der Agentur ASL in Lausanne. 1997 bis 2002 Fotograf bei der «Neuen Zürcher Zeitung» in Zürich. Seit 2002 Themenfotograf bei der Bildagentur Keystone in Zürich, mit einem Teilpensum von 90%. Daneben freie Auftragsarbeit für verschiedene Magazine und Unternehmen.
