The task was to photograph portraits of a boy and a girl who were not affected by the illness as a symbolic photo series to accompany an article about schizophrenia in teenagers. Together with the protagonists, I sought a visual language to express characteristic symptoms of the illness (e.g., feelings of unreality, depressed mood, obsession with anxiety, and evil voices in the head). Schizophrenia is one of the most common mental illnesses, but it is a taboo subject.
