Goldammer

Peter W. Baumann

Extensive pastureland with bushes or trees is ideal for yellowhammers. However, they are more common in lowland areas, where insects can be plentiful. I used a remote-controlled camera on the nest in the Bernese Oberland to document some aspects rarely seen before – including hatching from the egg in the presence of the female. I refrained from using a flash out of consideration for the birds.
