Long Gone - Photo Essay

Stéphanie Borcard Nicolas Métraux

This series is a reflection on absence, memories, and traces. What remains when everyone is gone? A disturbing void? Whether it's the entrance to a karaoke bar or an abandoned classroom, we seek to create theater settings in which the play has not yet begun or has just ended. Through this series, shot in China this summer, we wanted to give everyone the freedom to imagine their own scenario. The choice to work with Rolleiflex cameras and black and white film alludes to memory. “Long Gone” is part of an ongoing project, as it will continue in China at the end of January 2012.
