Summer Series 2013: The WB Editorial Team Visits the Home. Away from the desk, towards the readership: Since 1996, the WB has launched a summer series every year. On the one hand, the editorial team seeks direct contact with readers with fresh ideas; on the other, the summer lull offers ample opportunity for a wealth of projects, reports, and portraits. The WB reporters spent the summer of 2013 in strangers' homes – researching, photographing, filming, eating, drinking, and sleeping on-site. Last year, the WB crew's summer series experiences were not only available in the print edition. For the first time, the journalists also reported online, around the clock. A blog was available at www.wb-sommerserie.com, and new photos and video contributions were constantly being added. The visitors also kept readers updated on Twitter (@wbsommer) and Facebook (facebook.com/boettu). The 2013 summer series was "social." As you can see from this description, our multimedia project falls within both the print and online sections of your call for proposals. For us, as a relatively small local newspaper, this combination presented an exciting challenge.
