Zanzibar – a paradise for tourists, a drug hell for residents: The African island has become a hub for drugs that reach Switzerland and Europe. With fatal consequences: Almost one in ten Zanzibaris consumes heroin. During my three months on Zanzibar, I spoke with dealers, junkies, doctors, and people desperately fighting against drugs and corruption.
