The Swiss Platzgen Championship takes place annually at the end of summer. Platzgen, an ancient Swiss throwing sport, is one of Switzerland's traditional sports, along with wrestling, hornussen, and stone-throwing, and was once widespread throughout the country. The origins of Platzgen date back to the Middle Ages.
