In spring, an imminent rockslide was threatening the village of Brienz, which lies near the tourist resort of Lenzerheide (GR). The village was evacuated, and on 16th June the moment arrived: 2.1 million cubic metres of debris suddenly detached from the huge, slow-creeping land mass. The rock deluge barely missed the settlement and buried a road. Brienz was already the site of a previous landslide, in 1877.
