This article is a scoop on the price paid by the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) to develop the first tranche of their budget austerity plan called Performance, which plans to save 28 million in 2013 by eliminating more than 100 positions. The paper was published two weeks before the board of directors voted on the budget, in a tense media context for the HUG, at a time when the Performance plan was criticized in the press for its lack of transparency. It raises the question of the use of large private groups to develop cost-cutting measures that are sometimes far removed from the field.
