Geneva is one of the most expensive cities in the world. However in the spring of 2020, the pandemic suddenly lays bare how much deprivation has been hidden behind the scenes, how many are living on the edge of subsistence: Every Saturday thousands spend hours waiting in line at public and private foodbanks. ­After the long queues provoked a public outcry, the distribution was reorganised with more locations spread over a larger area.
