Ilford in Fribourg used to stand for the top end of quality photographic paper and was a global leader in its industry. When the company declared bankruptcy in December 2013, it threw the whole region into a state of shock. Thomas Dayer and Nicolas Brodard delved into the soul of the company. They followed up on the fate of the employees and investigated the strategic errors that had resulted in the insolvency. Through interviews with managers and employees, they retraced the company’s history. But the photographic paper endures, and the journalists went to look how, under the Ilford name, some very different products have been launched onto the market since the revival of the brand, which thus lives on.
