In the Goms region of Valais, more than 30 sheep were killed by wolves during the summer months of 2013. Herd protection in the Alps was therefore a hotly debated topic in the region. Samuel Sutter, a traveling shepherd from Thurgau, tried his luck with a method new to Valais. Despite his success, he was dismissed by the skeptical Valais shepherds in the middle of summer.
