To mark the 75th anniversary of the Lörrach Jesters' Guild, an anniversary weekend with a costumed church service, a jesters' reception, and an anniversary carnival parade took place there in February 2011 (in the run-up to Carnival). The people of Lörrach take their Carnival cues from their neighbors, the people of Basel; and the journalist from Riehen (the rural municipality in Basel-Stadt, directly adjacent to Lörrach) highlights similarities and differences between the customs on both sides of the border.
