Wildheuet in Oberried

Patrick Gasser

To preserve the biodiversity of the dry meadows at an altitude of around 1,600 meters, above Oberried on Lake Brienz, the local forestry team, together with a handful of volunteers, mows them every year at the end of July. The hay serves as an important food source for wildlife during the harsh winter. In the photo, apprentice Nino Brunner turns the mown grass on the meadow, which has a gradient of over 35 degrees.
