For eight years, I've been writing a 3,000-character city history every week for the local section of the Zurich Tages-Anzeiger. I'm free to choose any topic; the text simply has to be related to Zurich. I've chosen three examples to illustrate the column's format. If the jury were to limit themselves to one piece, "Viennese Waltz" would be my favorite. I tell the story of picking up a friend from Hungary at the train station and how the world has changed since the Iron Curtain fell.
