Virginie Giroud has been investigating a corruption case involving the former head of the Neuchâtel highway department since 2007. After a period of pretrial detention, the man was released and managed to leave Switzerland. Virginie Giroud managed to locate him in France, just as he had landed a job similar to the one he held in Neuchâtel. The investigation is currently closed, but the accused remains in France. He has already announced that he will not attend his trial.
