"il bös-ch rumantsch" (The Romansh Word) Isolated in the Val S-charl, stands quiet and wild, the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe. In 1923, the poet Peider Lansel turned the Tamangur forest into a symbol. In a poem, Peider Lansel from the Lower Engadin compared the dying Tamangur forest to the disappearance of the Romansh language. Since then, the Swiss stone pine forest has been a powerful symbol for the Romansh people. In the 1980s, the poet Madlaina Stuppan wrote her response to Lansel's poem. From this, the songwriter Linard Bardill landed the Romansh hit "il bös-ch rumantsch."
