5,500 hunters participate in the Graubünden high-altitude hunt. They don't always kill their prey. The injured animals must be searched for. Bloodhounds are used for this purpose. "Spur" is the word for blood in hunting terminology. In many cases, the animals are found and killed during a tracking operation. This is intended to relieve them of their long suffering. The Graubünden Regional Journal was granted exclusive access to a tracking operation. This article reveals how the search is conducted, how the dog Aila works, and what goes through the minds of the hunters.
