In January 2019, an avalanche buried a hotel in Schwägalp, Canton of Graubünden, and a pylon of the Säntis cable car was also damaged. Repairing the pylon was a challenge: technicians had to weld a steel reinforcement to the existing structure at dizzying heights. This report was the first to show the damage to the pylon and the spectacular repair work.
