For this year's Gurten Festival, the Bund's Culture and Local Affairs department launched a series of articles that went beyond the usual coverage of a music festival (July 11–18, 2011). For a week, the participating editors each produced a page on the Gurten Festival. This page explored various surprising aspects of the festival. The finale page also featured columns published daily, entirely dedicated to the traditional festival on Bern's local mountain. The academic column "Small Talk" addressed the tourist significance of festivals, renowned psychoanalyst Peter Schneider explained why people attend festivals, and the Quotations column offered a daily quote from 28 years of Gurten history. In addition, the Bund editors also tweeted from Bern's local mountain – the best tweets appeared in the print edition. With the Twitter campaign, the Bund editorial team explored possibilities for how the interaction between new media and the traditional print presence could work.
