In 2015, the Schwändli platter lift in Eriz was replaced. The district governor had previously approved the project. Ten years later, the Federal Office for the Environment suddenly filed a complaint. It demanded the ski lift be demolished because it had been illegally built in a nationally protected moorland area. A battle began over this vital lifeline for an entire region.
