Haiti: island of the damned? On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7,3 earthquake caused devastation across the country, killing 300 000 people. 1,3 million more were made homeless and have since had to live in makeshift camps. (153–155). Despite the promises of help from all over the world, the rebuilding is slow (156). Symbol of horror: a skull found under the rubble (157).
