Constant change at universities

Giorgia Müller

The structure of the Swiss higher education landscape can easily be confusing. While the term "university" used to be synonymous with the university or the two Federal Institutes of Technology, today, due to the new Act on the Promotion and Coordination of Higher Education (HFKG), it applies to both the 12 Swiss universities as well as the universities of applied sciences and the universities of teacher education. Following the NZZ education supplement's recent focus on universities of applied sciences, this section now focuses on the universities.
