Ursula Frey - A Life for Dance

Brigitte Mader

Ursula Frey from Bern is arguably the oldest ballet dance teacher in Switzerland. At 90, she still taught ballet and gymnastics. She closed her studio at the beginning of April 2013. As a young woman, she performed on stage both at home and abroad – as a prima ballerina. Her parents would have preferred her to learn something practical – to be a teacher. Her passion for dance is palpable right through to the end. Ursula Frey was reluctant to give up her dance studio. And her students were sad, too. A visit to her last dance class demonstrates this.
