Underdogs

Sebastian Magnani

About the project: As quickly as the idea came to fruition, it was implemented: photographing dogs with their owners. What was initially seen as pure entertainment value, without expectation or pressure, has made surprising waves. The four-legged friends and their owners have now traveled quite a bit around the world. Various blogs, journals, and television programs have reported on TierMensch's bizarre photo combinations. And where does this sometimes astonishing resemblance between dog and owner come from? Does the underdog ultimately submit itself, even visually? It is undisputed that these four-legged friends not only arouse emotions and interest, but also confront us with our deepest needs. Dogs are considered loyal, selfless, reliable, life-saving, joyful, and proud companions in a world where these values are increasingly fading. The source of models is inexhaustible, and this is precisely where the difficulty lies: fishing out the pearls from the abundance that captivate with uniqueness, brilliance, and depth. To create just a moment of symbiosis – between animal and human – to be one. Who: Dogs and owners/people What: Assembly When: 2012 Where: Bern/Valais
