In March 2015, I traveled to Erbil, Iraq, for the "SonntagsBlick" magazine. Northern Iraq is considered relatively safe and has become a refuge for tens of thousands of Syrians and Kurds who have fled the Islamic State. Xoxe, a 40-year-old Yazidi woman, tearfully recounted how her daughter was murdered by ISIS in Sinjar. This photo was taken.
