Following the Arab Spring in 2011 Libya be- came mired in civil war. At the beginning of 2023, a fragile ceasefire holds in the North African state. Young militiamen vacillate be- tween the new sense of freedom (206) and a constant state of vigilance (204). In the city of Misrata, ex-dictator Gaddafi is being used as a doormat (202). In Tripoli, too, the prospects for young people are uncertain (201, 205).
