Dominic Nahr wurde 1983 in Heiden (AR) geboren und wuchs in Hongkong auf. Nachdem er an der Toronto Metropolitan University (damals Ryerson University) Fotografie studiert hatte, zog er 2009 nach Nairobi und veröffentlichte seine Reportagen in zahlreichen internationalen Pressetiteln. Im Jahr 2021 wurde er in die Bildredaktion der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung aufgenommen. Seine Bilder wurden unter anderem am Festival Visa pour l’image ausgestellt und sind Teil der ständigen Sammlungen der Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur sowie der National Gallery of Art in Washington (USA). 2024 wurde er Swiss Press Photographer of the Year.
