Katrin Stauffer (34) is a mine clearer, or explosive ordnance disposal specialist, as it's more accurately called. She specializes in the clearance and defusing of anti-personnel mines, bombs, and cluster munitions. She's also a trained army diver, authorized to recover unexploded ordnance underwater. She's at the Swissint competence center in Stans shortly before her departure for Congo.
