The Jungfrau Zeitung editorial team has come across a story that has brought a long-ago dramatic incident on the Eiger back to life. Thanks to a shoe, it all happened. Editor Laura Bomio has researched how two Grindelwald mountaineers found an old but well-preserved mountaineering boot on an autumn tour of the legendary mountain. It's likely that the boot is the last remnant of the rope team of Max Sedlmayr and Karl Mehringer. Both perished on the Eiger in 1935. Bomio investigated the story.
