Maha Kumbh Mela

Didier Ruef

Every twelve years, the world's largest religious festival is held on the banks of the Ganges River in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India: the Maha Kumbh Mela. For fifty-five days between January and March 2013, more than 100 million Hindus cleansed themselves of their sins and united with the divine through ablutions in the sacred waters of the Ganges.
