The story in brief: After a fatal accident at Ricken (SG), we received reports from residents along the route that something was wrong with the road surface. My research and the authorities then confirmed this. Based on the research and subsequent reporting (in my opinion), the authorities took immediate action within a very short time (including on the day of the accident). In the meantime, political initiatives were made in the St. Gallen cantonal parliament. (My work serves as the basis for these initiatives; SVP-KR Barbara Keller-Inhelder explicitly thanks me for my research in the parliamentary inquiry.) I think this is a great example of how local journalism can really get things moving if you have the courage to shed light on dark areas and don't let the authorities, police, etc. fob you off. Perhaps the jury agrees. I would be delighted.
