The Maison Vautrain was classified by the Geneva Council of State in October 2013. I initially intended to provide a simple history of the building, but the authorities' reluctance to provide me with information alerted me. As I continued my investigation, I realized that the residents were appealing against its renovation because they risked being evicted. The conflict contained many gray areas (the owner's company was in liquidation, for example).
