When a Belgian coach crashed in the A9 motorway tunnel near Sierre, 28 people died, including 22 children. Sympathy for the victims of this terrible accident was outpouring throughout Switzerland. People spontaneously gathered at Lake Géronde in Sierre, laid candles, and shared their grief. The fate of the deceased children was particularly moving. The site was visited by children and adults until late into the evening. A sense of reverence and silence prevailed.
