Simon Tanner (1983 in Bern geboren) lebt und arbeitet in Zürich, Schweiz. Nach dem Studium der Neuesten Geschichte und Politikwissenschaften an der Universität Bern absolvierte er den Studiengang Redaktionelle Fotografie am Medienausbildungszentrum MAZ in Luzern. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Fotograf für die Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ verfolgt er eigene Projekte zu politischen und gesellschaftlichen Themen. 2012 war er Preisträger beim Swiss Photo Award und Swiss Press Photo 12 in Zürich. 2011 und 2014 war er nominiert für die Joop Swart Masterclass. Seit 2017 ist er Präsident der vfg (vereinigung fotografischer gestalterInnen) und Dozent an der F+F Schule für Kunst und Design in Zürich.
