INLIFE

Scott Typaldos

INANIMA At the Tierspital Bern, the pathology unit dissects animals to establish the cause of death. What at first glance seems like a morbid procedure is in reality a systematic analysis of the mechanical flows of life. Why is the face of a dead animal always indistinguishable from that of a still-breathing animal? Why does the death of a domestic animal seem more touching than that of a farm animal? What life do we project onto our animals, our own or theirs? These issues formed the core of my photographic research.
