On the run

Cédric Von Niederhäusern

The war in Syria displaced thousands of Kurds in the north of the country. Many residents of the embattled city of Kobani fled to the border town of Suruc in Turkey. At the end of November 2014, I accompanied a Swiss aid mission to this area and documented the lives of the refugees. The images depict the silent suffering of the people living in makeshift shelters, hoping to return to their homeland, relatively safe from the violence of the war, but still completely exposed to its effects.
