The Neue Zürcher Zeitung's photo archive is a collection of curiosities, unusual views, and some – by today's standards – seemingly absurd images. We invited our readers to test their knowledge of Old Zurich and join in the puzzle. Anyone who recognized the image or had a guess as to what it depicted could submit their suggestions via the comments section or social media (Facebook/Twitter). Three days later, the editorial team provided the solution: In short, memorable texts, we explained the situation at the time and recounted anecdotes related to the images. These texts were based on research in the extensive NZZ archive and other historical sources.
