The Prime Tower in Zurich, the tallest skyscraper in Switzerland, has 740 steps. Does that mean this skyscraper also has the most steps in Switzerland? No! There's a staircase in Switzerland with over 1,000 steps: the Tausender-Treppchen near Rothrist. It leads up to the Born, a Jura hill next to the A1 motorway. The staircase is popular with joggers for exercise and with hikers because it provides a quick and direct access to a beautiful vantage point – and because the staircase always looks as if it were newly built just yesterday. It is always in perfect condition – four spry retirees from the region ensure this.
