The headquarters of the former Crypto AG in Steinhausen produced encryption machines for decades. The company was at the center of an alleged espionage scandal. In the summer of 2020, the company was closed due to a federal export ban. The premises have been abandoned ever since. The factory and administration building are scheduled to be demolished soon, and 200 apartments will be built on the site.
