On November 11, 2024, St. Martin's Day, the traditional Goose Slaying Ceremony will take place in the old town of Sursee. The competitors, wearing red cloaks and unable to see behind their sun masks, attempt to bring down a goose suspended from a wire rope with a single saber blow. Their dragoon sabers are blunt. Before striking, they drink a glass of wine and spin around on their own axis.
